When you open the windows, do you have to beg the fresh air to come in? Or when you open the curtains in the morning, do you have to argue with the sun to make it shine into your room? How silly! You just open the windows and the air flows in. You open the curtains and the sun shines in.
The Bible says it’s like that with God’s peace. It will flow into our hearts, if we let it.
Are you worried? Are you anxious? Is anything troubling you today?
Don’t try to work it out all by yourself. Let God’s peace flow in – like sunshine into a dark room.
“Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.” Colossians 3:15
-Sally Lloyd-Jones, Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing.
This made my heart sing when I read it last night, because it was such a simple reminder of how I’m not alone in this. How I don’t have to work it all out alone, or feel any of the anxiety and doubt alone. I can take it to God, and He will help me to give it up to Him. It’s a process and I’m still learning, often in baby steps, what it looks like to offer up my worry and accept His peace.
